All About Us
I started collecting baseball cards in the late 50′s in Oklahoma. I would visit our small town grocery store and would buy packs of cards for a dime. After graduating from college, I pulled my collection out of shoe boxes that had been stored in my brother’s basement, (my mother didn’t throw them away), and continued my collection.
In late 1985, my wife Debbie and I went to our first card show, and our love for the hobby took over. We started setting up at shows in Oklahoma and after being transferred to South Carolina with my corporate job we started promoting shows. In 1989 we moved to Dallas and opened our store just two weeks after arriving.
We have been in the same location since July 15, 1989 and are the only remaining sports card store in Dallas. We are a family owned and operated store with a warm atmosphere and shelves stocked with product at reasonable prices.
Nick's is a great place to get away from the everyday grind and escape to a fun, relaxing environment.
Here are just some of the reason’s to visit Nick’s:
• An entire area dedicated to vintage cards for those looking to complete older sets or just check out
some of the cards that started it all.
• We carry all the latest trading card releases in all sports.
• 50 cent bargain boxes loaded with cards of players from every sport.
• A program for kids to receive free cards for getting good grades.
• Big pulls are highlighted on our website.
• Free sports card grab bags for kids on their first visit.
Two big screen televisions tuned to all the big games and sports news and some amazing items on display in the store.
We also have a section that is a sports museum with unique items such as old melon footballs, dog-eared helmets, uniforms and one of the first catcher’s masks in baseball. So a visit to Nick’s comes with a bit of a history tour as well.
For every $10.00 spent, customers are eligible to win a $25 and $50 gift certificates each week on Fridays.
For every $50.00 spent, customers are eligible to win prizes such as autographs, boxes of cards, vintage cards ranging in value from $200-$500.
Every six months, the “Nick’s Gives Back” drawing gives customers the opportunity to win amazing autograph jerseys from players like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Larry Bird, Adrian Peterson, Troy Aikman and more.
Nick’s has been called the “Cheers” of sports card stores by our customers because it has a small town atmosphere in one of America’s biggest cities.
We are all about providing you with a great customer experience, and have created an environment that brings back customers of all ages.
It's Not A Store It's an Experience
Nick's Take on it All
Collections can be a source of pride and enjoyment. It is our connection with the past and the sport we love so much. It can be a great pastime for all ages but most important is the lasting relationships built among family members. I really enjoy watching families come in our store, looking for their favorite players or trying to complete sets. Fathers and mothers talking about their heroes when they were young, wishing their parents hadn't thrown their cards away, and listening to their children talk about the current players they like to collect. Their heros of today will be the legends of tomorrow. We live in a time when families are becoming disconnected with each other due in part to the enormous amounts of information we must deal with and all the distractions that keep us from enjoying quality time with each other, collecting cards can bridge that gap. We have watched children learn how to read because of the price guides and overcome their shyness as they show with pride their favorite player they just pulled out of pack. If you hang out in our store long enough you will notice a particular quality in the children that collect cards, A quality that reflects a desire to learn, politeness, and kindness. In short, baseball card collecting can be a family experience that is fun for everyone."
